Design Manager (Building) – Main Contractor

About the role

The Design Manager will lead design coordination for large‑scale building projects, overseeing the process from pre‑construction through to completion. This role works closely with clients, consultants, architects, M&E and structural teams, as well as internal stakeholders, to ensure design solutions are practical, compliant and aligned with project goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall design coordination process for building construction projects.
• Review design drawings, specifications and submissions for compliance with project requirements.
• Manage design development, authority submissions, technical coordination and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify design conflicts, propose construction solutions and ensure alignment with schedule, budget and buildability.
• Conduct design coordination meetings, monitor progress and work closely with BIM teams for clash detection.
• Liaise with authorities and consultants to secure approvals and ensure compliance with Singapore regulations.
• Support tender activities, value engineering and project planning as needed.
• Mentor design coordinators and project teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in building construction projects with a main contractor.
• Strong experience in design coordination and project management for large‑scale developments.
• Familiarity with Singapore BCA regulations, authority submission processes and construction standards.
• Solid understanding of architectural, structural and M&E coordination.
• Experience with BIM coordination and design management processes.
