Director, Centre for African Studies

About the role

The Centre for African Studies (CAS) at NTU‑SBF seeks a senior leader to direct all centre activities, align development with its mission, and raise its profile locally and internationally. Reporting jointly to the Chairman of the CAS Advisory Board and the Dean of Nanyang Business School, the Director will shape strategic vision and foster deeper economic and policy links between Africa and Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute CAS’s strategic roadmap in partnership with the Advisory Board and NBS senior management.
• Develop collaborations between African and Singaporean companies, assessing opportunities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Lead outreach and industry‑engagement initiatives, building a network of corporate, government, and ecosystem partners.
• Partner with NBS faculty to produce practice‑oriented thought leadership, managing content creation, stakeholder engagement, and distribution.
• Provide day‑to‑day governance, overseeing resource allocation, budgeting, financial management, and compliance.
• Drive revenue generation and fundraising to achieve financial sustainability.
• Ensure operational excellence in planning, budgeting, and delivery of CAS programmes and events.
