Director, Data Scientist – Financial Crime

About the role

Mastercard is establishing a new Centre of Excellence for Financial Crime Solutions in Asia‑Pacific. As Director, Data Scientist – Financial Crime you will lead the regional data‑science team, act as the public face of Mastercard’s anti‑fraud capabilities and drive the development of advanced models that detect fraud, scams and money‑laundering.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Mastercard at conferences, industry forums and senior customer engagements, publishing white papers and technical articles.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership on the design, development and evolution of regional financial‑crime detection models.
• Collaborate with Product, global Data Science and local teams to balance global standards with local market requirements.
• Ensure the effectiveness and scalability of model delivery across the APAC region.
• Mentor and guide a team of data scientists and analysts.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in data science, preferably within financial‑crime, fraud or anti‑money‑laundering domains.
• Strong track record of external thought leadership and industry engagement.
• Excellent communication skills for senior‑level customer and stakeholder interactions.
• Experience working in or with the Asia‑Pacific market.
