Director, Government Affairs Public Policy – APAC External Engagement

About the role

Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team is seeking a seasoned leader to direct APAC External Engagement for Platforms and Devices. In this senior position you will shape policy strategy, build high‑impact government relationships, and drive an affirmative agenda that aligns with Google’s global ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a proactive regional policy strategy that goes beyond reactive monitoring.
• Lead cross‑border teams and external engagements across the APAC region.
• Engage with government officials, legislators, regulators, and third‑party stakeholders to influence public policy.
• Mobilize industry allies and political influencers using non‑traditional advocacy tools such as social media, influencer outreach, and digital grassroots tactics.
• Translate innovation into actionable political strategies and ensure compliance while catalyzing regional policy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 20+ years of experience in government affairs, political campaigning, or strategic advocacy within APAC.
• Proven experience managing cross‑border teams and leading external engagements.
• Deep understanding of the political economies and digital policy communities in key APAC markets.
• Track record of driving high‑performing, high‑morale cultures and managing policy issues for products with massive global footprints.
