Distribution Manager – Logistics Operations

About the role

The Distribution Manager will lead the end‑to‑end distribution function, ensuring products reach customers accurately and on time while controlling costs. You will work closely with suppliers, warehouses, logistics partners and internal teams to optimise the flow of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and oversee product distribution to guarantee timely deliveries.
• Develop and implement efficient distribution strategies to improve service levels and reduce operating costs.
• Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, logistics providers and customers for smooth operations.
• Monitor inventory movement, stock availability and prevent shortages or overstocking.
• Supervise warehouse, logistics and delivery personnel, ensuring productivity and compliance.
• Schedule and optimise delivery routes to maximise efficiency and minimise transportation costs.
• Track delivery performance, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety requirements and company policies.
• Manage relationships with third‑party logistics providers, courier services and transport contractors.
• Investigate and resolve delivery delays, damaged goods and customer complaints.
• Prepare distribution schedules, operational and inventory reports, and KPI dashboards for management.
• Monitor distribution expenses, manage budgets and drive cost‑effective operations.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement and operations teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity and service quality.
• Oversee stock transfers between warehouses, outlets or distribution centres.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide training and coaching to distribution staff.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, deliveries and logistics activities.
• Ensure proper maintenance and utilisation of company vehicles and distribution assets.
• Develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions caused by supply‑chain issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in logistics, distribution or supply‑chain management.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
