Embedded Software Engineer – LaserJet Printers

About the role

This role designs, develops, tests and maintains embedded software for LaserJet printers tailored to specific user or business needs. It works with cross-functional teams to deliver functional, user-friendly and reliable software, and covers testing, debugging and troubleshooting to keep applications defect-free.

Key responsibilities

• Design enhancements, updates and programming changes for parts of end-user applications running on local, networked and Internet-based platforms.
• Analyse designs and determine the coding, programming and integration activities needed, based on the product's overall architecture.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues reported by users or found during testing and usage.
• Write and run complete test plans, protocols and documentation for the assigned part of the application.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and quality assurance teams to implement new features.
• Allocate resources, plan projects and lead a team of software engineers and outsourced partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.
• Communicate with management and partners on design status, progress and issue resolution, and represent the team on larger projects.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or commensurate experience and demonstrated competence.
• Typically 3-5 years of experience in applications engineering, programming or a related field, or an advanced degree with 2-4 years of experience.
• Preferred: certification in Assembly, C/C++ or Python.
