Engineer / Senior Engineer (Surveillance)

About the role

This role manages projects and oversees the maintenance of mission-critical surveillance systems that support the safe and reliable monitoring of aircraft in the air and on the airport ground. The systems include radars, ADS-B, multilateration, surface movement guidance and control systems, and the networks that connect them. The position is based at Changi Airport Terminal 2.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure systems meet the required quality, safety, performance and international standards.
• Manage maintenance contractors so that maintenance work meets the required standards.
• Ensure compliance with CAAS and relevant government requirements, including cybersecurity requirements.
• Investigate system faults and follow up on audit and cybersecurity findings with support from contractors and suppliers.
• Plan and carry out upgrades to existing system hardware, software and networks.
• Manage project resources and schedules, working with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and other external parties.
• Manage the procurement and implementation of replacement surveillance systems.
• Coordinate with government agencies, system suppliers, consultants, auditors and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Training in electrical, electronic, computing or telecommunications engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Experience operating or maintaining safety-critical systems such as radars is preferred.
• Good communication, writing and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with officers at all levels.
• Analytical, open-minded and self-driven.
• Able to support night work and to respond on-site at any time.
• Able to travel overseas for visits, meetings, conferences and training.

Required skills

• Knowledge of implementing cybersecurity requirements is an advantage.
• Experience administering Linux-based operating systems is an advantage.
