Engineering Lead - HAUV Systems

About the role

BeeX is seeking an Engineering Lead to own mechanical design and integration of Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs), guiding the platform from concept through field deployment while leading a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and electrical design, analysis, and integration of HAUV pressure housings, modular frames, buoyancy systems, and thruster configurations.
• Define design‑for‑manufacture, tolerancing, material selection, and corrosion‑resistant solutions for subsea inspection environments.
• Design, integrate, and troubleshoot wiring harnesses, wet‑mateable connectors, penetrators, and power distribution across the vehicle.
• Conduct structural and electrical validation (FEA, pressure testing, load testing, continuity testing) to certify designs for operational depth and reliability.
• Manage the full engineering lifecycle—from requirements and CAD/schematic design to prototyping, testing, field trials, and production handover.
• Mentor and review work of mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics engineers, building technical capability within the team.
• Support and perform pool and open‑water trials, including pre‑dive checks, performance validation, and post‑dive inspection.
• Diagnose and resolve electro‑mechanical failures in the field and drive root‑cause corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Marine/Offshore, Mechatronics, Electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on mechanical engineering experience with ROV/AUV or similar subsea robotic systems.
• Solid understanding of electrical/electronic fundamentals, wiring, connectors, and power distribution.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and familiarity with FEA/simulation software.
• Experience designing pressure housings, sealing solutions, and conducting subsea testing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small engineering team.
• Willingness to travel for field trials and deployments.
