Engineering Supervisor (Instrumentation)

About the role

An experienced Engineering Supervisor specialising in Instrumentation is sought to join a technical team. This supervisory role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, overseeing instrumentation engineering activities across operational facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily instrumentation engineering and maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operations
• Lead and coach a team of instrumentation technicians and engineers
• Oversee installation, calibration, testing and commissioning of instrumentation systems and control equipment
• Review and approve technical documentation such as work procedures, inspection reports and maintenance records
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and safety regulations
• Liaise with other engineering disciplines, project managers and operations personnel on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend system upgrades or modifications
• Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks, and monitor key performance indicators on reliability and maintenance effectiveness
• Provide technical input for procurement of instrumentation equipment and spare parts

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 5 years of instrumentation engineering experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
• Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills; methodical troubleshooting approach
• Certifications such as BizSAFE or WSQ are an advantage
