Equipment Technician - Semiconductor Manufacturing

About the role

Micron is hiring an Equipment Technician to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The role works alongside engineers and cross-functional teams to keep equipment reliable, productive and producing quality products. It suits recent Nitec, Higher Nitec and Diploma graduates who enjoy hands-on technical work.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electromechanical issues.
• Monitor equipment performance and respond to alarms and abnormalities.
• Support equipment recovery and restoration to minimise downtime.
• Carry out equipment calibration and qualification activities.
• Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
• Take part in continuous improvement projects and work with engineers, manufacturing teams and vendors.
• Follow cleanroom, safety and operating procedures at all times.
• Use approved AI-enabled and digital tools to improve troubleshooting efficiency, and contribute ideas that improve uptime, productivity, quality and safety.

Required profile

• Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation or a related discipline.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts.
• Preferred: internship or project experience in equipment maintenance, exposure to manufacturing or semiconductor environments, and familiarity with automation systems.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and measurement equipment.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to read technical drawings and instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset, good communication and teamwork, willingness to learn.
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools responsibly for learning, diagnostics and analysis.
