Executive Director, Strategic Finance – Balance Sheet Optimisation

About the role

Our client, a leading financial institution with a complex balance sheet across Asia, is looking for an Executive Director to lead Balance Sheet Optimisation. The role provides strategic leadership, works closely with senior Finance, Treasury and business leaders, and supports senior management in delivering sustainable financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Drive optimisation of a large, complex balance sheet within a Capital Markets environment, influencing funding, capital utilisation, liquidity and returns.
• Partner with Treasury and Capital Markets stakeholders to deploy financial resources across products, manage excess liquidity, secured and unsecured funding, repos, loan and investment instruments, and optimise margin.
• Assess balance sheet capacity, capital and liquidity implications and relative returns to guide allocation of financial resources.
• Provide analysis and recommendations to executive management on business performance, product economics, pricing and balance sheet strategy, balancing commercial objectives with regulatory and risk considerations.
• Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, performance management and senior‑management reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Finance or Treasury leader in Balance Sheet Optimisation within Capital Markets, Financial Markets, Treasury or a comparable function at a major global or universal bank.
• Proven track record of working with a sizeable, complex balance sheet and deep understanding of funding, liquidity deployment, capital and RWA efficiency, FTP, repos and margin management.
• At least four to five years operating at Director or Executive Director level with the credibility to influence Finance and Treasury leadership.
• Strong commercial judgement, analytical capability and communication skills, with a history of translating balance‑sheet considerations into business decisions.
