Finance Analyst, Photonics Platforms Business

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Finance Analyst for its Photonics Platforms Business (PPB) in Singapore. The role covers Opex, Capex and spend management, inventory and costing, grant administration and financial reporting, working closely with business partners and finance colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Own day-to-day Opex, Capex and spend management and reporting for PPB's Singapore operations, including in-quarter spending and budget management with business partners.
• Perform variance analysis, explain forecast-to-actual changes, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and partner with stakeholders to drive spending discipline, forecast accuracy and investment optimization.
• Own cost modeling to support ad-hoc projects, quarterly and annual forecast cycles.
• Maintain and update monthly standard costs, analyse standard cost variances, and perform monthly and quarterly inventory counts to ensure accuracy and adequate controls.
• Drive process improvement across costing and inventory management.
• Track and support grant submissions and claims, and support quarterly grant reviews and reporting.
• Consolidate financials for PPB SG's P&L forecasting and reporting, and develop automated dashboards and reporting tools that improve financial visibility and support executive reviews.
• Partner with Operations, Accounting and COE teams to deliver accurate, timely financial outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in FP&A, business or operations finance, portfolio finance, investment analysis or related areas.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Experience managing standard costs, inventory, Opex and Capex.
• Proven business partnering experience and ability to communicate across multiple functions and stakeholder groups.
• Preferred: experience in semiconductor, technology, manufacturing, R&D-intensive and/or start-up environments.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with financial planning and reporting tools such as Anaplan, SAP BPC, Tableau or similar.
