Financial Controller

About the role

As Financial Controller you will be the most senior finance person at HitPay, owning the finance function end‑to‑end across all group entities. You will lead two Finance Operations Executives and partner directly with the CEO on unit economics, pricing and investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Run the monthly and annual close for all entities, maintaining the general ledger, inter‑company positions, FX translation, revenue recognition and accruals.
• Own daily and monthly merchant reconciliation, settlement, payable balances and ensure breaks are root‑caused upstream.
• Safeguard customer funds in every licensed market, compute daily segregation, file regulatory submissions and manage safeguarding audits.
• Lead the annual statutory audit and all regulatory, tax and filing calendars across jurisdictions, acting as primary contact for auditors.
• Build and maintain unit‑economics views (revenue per merchant, take rate, processing cost, gross margin) and advise the CEO and board.
• Negotiate commercial terms with acquirers, banks, processors, auditors and other vendors, tracking spend against contracts.
• Lead, coach and develop two Finance Operations Executives, setting standards for accuracy and timeliness.
• Design and automate processes and documentation to allow the finance function to scale without proportional headcount growth.

Required profile

• 6+ years of finance experience, starting in a Big 4 audit or equivalent assurance practice.
• Qualified accountant (CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with full‑cycle close and statutory audit ownership.
• Experience managing auditors across multiple legal entities or jurisdictions.
• People‑management experience or clear readiness to lead a team.
• Hands‑on approach: comfortable reconciling tens of thousands of transactions directly.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills handling large transaction datasets.
• Based in Singapore with the right to work.
• Fintech/payments or e‑money experience, especially merchant settlement, float management or safeguarding, is strongly preferred.
