Financial Services Assurance - Digital Innovation Garage Poly Internship

About the role

PwC's Financial Services Assurance practice works with organisations to strengthen trust and transparency in financial reporting, serving clients in asset management, banking, capital markets and insurance. It is looking for students with a strong academic background in computer science, information systems or software development to join its Digital Innovation Garage (DIG) team. You will use your knowledge of programming and software development to help design and develop solutions that make financial services audits more automated, data-driven and insightful.

Key responsibilities

• Digital solutions: support senior team members in gathering business and data requirements, data analysis and testing for data strategy, data roadmap and data solution projects, and give point-of-view and recommendations on technology and data solution assessments
• Build digital solution projects using at least one programming language (Python, R, Java or C#)
• Design and develop data cleansing routines covering standardization, transformation, rationalization, linking and matching, and deploy global tools across the practice
• Help audit teams and clients extract data from complex IT systems and deliver standard, high-quality data analysis, including bespoke analysis
• Analyse complex data using relational databases and SQL queries
• Use predictive analytics, web scraping and natural language processing with Python/R
• Use Alteryx, Power BI and Tableau to access, transform, integrate, analyse and visualise client data, identifying anomalies and trends

Required profile

• Student with a strong academic background in computer science, information systems or software development
• Keen to develop themselves in the profession, highly motivated, enthusiastic, confident and creative
• Good co-curricular record, strong interpersonal and communication skills, service-oriented and committed to teamwork

Required skills

• Strong in at least one programming language (Python, R, Java or C#)
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel (VBA a strong plus)
• Automation tools such as ABBYY and UiPath
• SQL, data cleansing, data visualization and tools such as Alteryx, Power BI and Tableau
