Forward Deployed Engineering Intern (AI Adoption Pod)

About the role

Carousell Group is building a small “AI Adoption Pod” that helps internal, non‑engineering teams select the right AI tools, workflows and agents to amplify their impact. As a Forward Deployed Engineering Intern you will work directly with these teams to translate vague business problems into concrete, AI‑powered solutions and see them through to measurable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal teams (Data, Product, Marketing, Sales Ops, People, Finance) to clarify ambiguous problems and prototype AI‑driven solutions.
• Design, build, and iterate on AI‑powered skills, workflows, and agents for non‑technical users.
• Make technical decisions on deployment, cost, latency and security that non‑technical builders cannot.
• Debug production issues and provide rapid fixes when real users encounter failures.
• Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of a workflow, ensuring it delivers measurable results before handing it over.
• Identify reusable patterns across teams and feed them back to the pod for future projects.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, capable of writing correct, working code independently.
• Hands‑on experience with generative AI primitives such as prompting, context engineering and tool/function calling, and a track record of building a non‑trivial output with modern LLMs (e.g., Claude).
• Demonstrated ability to ship an end‑to‑end project (personal, academic or prior internship) from idea to a usable product.
• Comfort with ambiguous, unscoped problems and the capacity to break them down without a detailed specification.

Required skills

• Software engineering (full‑stack development).
• Prompt engineering and context engineering for LLMs.
• Experience with LLM tooling such as Claude.
• Debugging production systems.
• Building and deploying agentic workflows or tool‑using agents.
