Gas / Chemical Engineer

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for a Gas / Chemical Engineer to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of facility gas and chemical distribution systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing. The role provides technical leadership in system optimisation, reliability improvement, project execution, safety compliance and operational excellence, keeping process gases and chemicals flowing to production. Candidates without prior work experience are welcome to apply, as comprehensive training and development will be provided.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operation of bulk gas, specialty gas and chemical distribution systems, coordinating with operations, maintenance and production teams to resolve issues.
• Improve system reliability, availability and maintainability, analyse failures with root cause analysis and run CAPA, FMEA and risk reduction projects.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and lead or support HAZOP, risk assessments, PHA and safety reviews.
• Lead facility expansion, retrofit and improvement projects from concept through commissioning, including P&ID review and testing and commissioning coordination.
• Manage TCGM contractors and service providers, monitor their performance and KPIs, and support contract negotiations and cost optimisation.
• Provide engineering support during abnormal events, lead investigations and prepare technical reports.
• Develop SOPs, PM strategies and engineering standards, maintain engineering documentation and train operation and maintenance personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Preferred: prior related internship or co-op experience, and demonstrated leadership experience.
• Project management skills and a strong interest in using AI tools and emerging technologies to improve productivity.
