Gas Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer - Construction

About the role

Micron Singapore is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Gas Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer – Construction. The engineer designs, specifies, installs, commissions and optimizes high-purity gas delivery systems in semiconductor manufacturing facilities, ensuring safe handling, efficient distribution and compliance with codes and safety regulations, while working with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Design specialty and bulk gas delivery systems, including storage, distribution piping, process integration and effluent scrubber units, meeting purity and safety requirements.
• Produce engineering drawings, P&IDs and specifications, and perform flow, pressure and compatibility calculations.
• Specify components so designs meet codes such as NFPA, FM, UBC, UFC, UMC, IBC, IMC, IFC, NEC, SEMI and OSHA.
• Guide contractors on installation, review and approve submittals and shop drawings, and carry out on-site inspections.
• Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and review vendor documentation such as SDS and warranties.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop safety protocols (emergency shutdown, leak detection, hazardous material storage), and run risk assessments, FMEA and HAZOP reviews.
• Oversee testing and commissioning, including pressure tests, leak checks and calibration, and lead troubleshooting of startup issues.
• Prepare commissioning reports, as-built drawings and operation manuals, and identify improvements in efficiency, safety and cost.
• Train operations and maintenance staff and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures and emergency response plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of gas system design and engineering in semiconductor or high-tech industries.
• Strong knowledge of gas delivery systems and safety standards.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritize workload and collaborate in a team; office and on-site work, with occasional travel for FAT and vendor qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD and process simulation tools (e.g. Aspen) is preferable.
• Preferred: experience with AI-enabled tools, data analytics platforms, digital engineering solutions or automation technologies.
