Global Markets Research Intern

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting a Global Markets Research Intern for its Global Markets Research for Asia team, based in Singapore. The internship runs from 11 January 2027 to 30 June 2027 and gives candidates an opportunity to understand the fundamental and macro drivers behind FX and rates markets, with a focus on Asia and global macro, and to see how research supports client relationships through thought leadership and insights.

Key responsibilities

• Create and analyse regional and country databases on the key drivers of Asia's economies and FX and rates markets, with the aim of forecasting macro and markets
• Help develop models and frameworks on Asia's macro and markets, test hypotheses logically, and support day-to-day work such as uploading and formatting research reports and maintaining databases
• Update slide packs and help with logistics ahead of client meetings, and respond to ad-hoc requests
• Automate research processes using GenAI, macros, spreadsheets and code to increase efficiency
• Work on longer-term thematic research reports and synthesise findings from academic research and think tanks, following policy debates

Required profile

• Open to Singaporean and PR students only; undergraduates from Business, Finance or Economics are preferred
• Strong interest in global and Asia macro and markets, with a clear thought process and logical reasoning
• Good with numbers, arithmetic and statistics; a good understanding of econometrics and regression analysis is very helpful
• Entrepreneurial spirit, proactive, able to learn quickly on the job, and organised

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Understanding of and experience in coding
• Experience using GenAI and willingness to use it to improve productivity and insights
