Head of Communications – Sports Organisation

About the role

The Head of Communications will shape and deliver the communications strategy for a leading sports organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this senior role ensures consistent, proactive messaging that enhances the sport’s reputation and supports organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the sport’s vision.
• Lead a small team to produce high‑quality content across digital, press and broadcast channels.
• Manage media relations, handling both proactive outreach and reactive inquiries.
• Plan and execute key announcements, campaigns and organisational messaging.
• Oversee crisis and issues communications to protect and enhance reputation.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing on digital and social content strategy.
• Attend priority events and travel as required for the sport.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience leading a communications team in both digital and traditional media.
• Strong track record of developing and executing communications strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage crisis situations.
• Passion for sports and willingness to travel for events.
