Head of Department – Special Education (AWWA School, Bedok)

About the role

The Head of Department will drive AWWA School’s vision of empowering special‑education students to thrive in the community. Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee curriculum excellence, holistic student development, staff growth and stakeholder partnerships for the SPED track at the Bedok campus.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of vision, educational goals and priorities for the special‑education curriculum.
• Plan, implement and evaluate school‑based programmes and curricula for the assigned domain.
• Customize pedagogy and assessment methods to enhance learning experiences for SPED students.
• Integrate IEP/ITP goals into lesson planning and collaborate with families and allied professionals.
• Design and deliver programmes that support character development and social‑emotional skills.
• Develop professional‑development roadmaps and facilitate learning communities for staff.
• Provide ongoing mentorship, feedback and performance coaching to teachers.
• Lead cross‑functional projects, initiatives and events across the school.
• Establish partnerships with families, community organisations and mainstream partners.
• Formulate, implement and evaluate work plans, manage budgets and resources for the SPED track.

Required profile

• Middle‑management experience in an educational setting.
