Head of Quality & Food Safety

About the role

Neumann Kaffee Gruppe is seeking a senior professional to lead all quality and food safety functions for its green coffee operations in Southeast Asia. The Head of Quality & Food Safety will ensure that incoming and outgoing coffee shipments meet the highest sensory and analytical standards while complying with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee pre‑shipment sample evaluation, including sensory assessment and quality analysis for all coffee samples.
• Coordinate with coffee‑producing origins and suppliers to guarantee adherence to green coffee quality specifications.
• Manage third‑party laboratory testing, review analytical results, and ensure compliance with required standards.
• Handle customer complaints and quality claims, documenting investigations and resolutions.
• Lead root‑cause investigations, drive Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and implement preventive measures.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements, including destination‑country import standards and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) documentation.
• Design and deliver internal training on sensory evaluation, green coffee analysis, quality standards and food safety.
• Prepare sustainability and statistical reports and support strategic quality projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in quality and food safety within food commodities, preferably coffee trading.
