Hospital Clinician

About the role

The Hospital Clinical Programme (HCP) recruits clinicians who combine deep knowledge in Medicine, Surgery and Emergency & Acute Care with knowledge across other domains. They manage patients with multiple interacting comorbidities and health/social complexities holistically, working with other healthcare team members to deliver broad-based ward care.

Key responsibilities

• Recognise and identify deteriorating patients in time, notify the specialist-in-charge and coordinate a team to assist
• Perform a targeted clinical assessment, order initial investigations and institute timely management steps to stabilise the patient
• Lead a code based on ACLS principles where applicable and arrange transfer to a higher level of care such as ICU
• Update patients and families and involve them in shared decision making
• Evaluate common adult presentations such as fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, limb swelling, dizziness, falls, syncope, neurological deficits, headache, altered mental state, oliguria and acute gastrointestinal bleeding
• Initiate provisional care plans for conditions such as sepsis, stroke, arrhythmias, asthma/COPD, pulmonary embolism, heart failure, shock, head injury, alcohol and drug overdose, end-of-life care and more
• Apply advanced care planning, informed consent, systems-based practice and transitions of care

Required profile

• Medical staff who have completed basic specialist training and are at least PGY 5 of training for Singaporeans or PRs of Singapore
• Non-Singaporeans and non-PRs must have worked at least 5 years in a Singapore public healthcare institution
• Registered with the Singapore Medical Council
