IE Layout Engineer

About the role

Micron is hiring an IE Layout Engineer to optimize production equipment layouts that maximize factory output. The role applies industrial engineering concepts and logical problem solving, acting as the link between Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities by maintaining accurate layout documentation, supporting tool-installation planning and ensuring layouts are feasible within technical and schedule constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize production equipment layouts to improve material flow, footprint efficiency and factory output.
• Maintain up-to-date layout documentation, reflecting planned tool installations, relocations, upgrades and removals in the ramp-plan layout.
• Carry out onsite assessments with Facilities and tool owners to validate layout feasibility and check physical and infrastructure constraints.
• Work with Manufacturing, Engineering and Facilities to communicate layout changes and resolve constraints.
• Build a foundation in factory design, cleanroom protocols and process areas, and plan and manage tool movement.
• Support scenario studies and deploy appropriate AI-driven solutions, integrating AI tools into daily work while complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of demonstrated leadership skills, such as in university or co-curricular activities.
• Ability to work inside a cleanroom, including wearing full cleanroom attire and carrying out on-site checks.
• Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred; internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in M365 apps such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Prior programming work, including using free Gen AI tools, and hands-on experience with AI tools such as chatbots, agentic AI and automation.
• Digital fluency and AI literacy applied responsibly to research, analysis and operational tasks.
