Intern - Facilities Mechanical Engineering

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc. is offering an internship in its Fab 10 facility in Singapore, within the F10 Facilities department. The project focuses on exhaust plume detection and reduction through mechanical engineering analysis in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. It covers plume formation mechanisms, detection methods and engineering approaches to reduce or eliminate visible plumes, with exposure to facilities systems, sustainability initiatives and energy-efficiency opportunities. Successful interns may be considered for future internship or graduate employment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct plume observations and collect engineering data
• Analyse potential plume sources and environmental or operating conditions that contribute to plume formation
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to evaluate plume behaviour and mitigation approaches
• Develop engineering analyses using tools such as Excel and prepare conceptual layouts or sketches in AutoCAD where applicable
• Use AI-enabled tools where appropriate to support analysis, documentation and data interpretation
• Produce an engineering study report, evaluate detection methods, assess plume-reduction options and energy-efficiency opportunities, and present final findings and recommendations

Required profile

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Ability to commit to a full-time internship of 5 months from January to May 2027
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills
• Effective communication and technical documentation skills

Required skills

• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, especially thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics
• Familiarity with Excel and AutoCAD is advantageous
• Familiarity with AI tools or AI-enabled workflows is advantageous
