Intern - PEE CVD/PVD (Copper Sputter, HBM Metallization)

About the role

Micron is offering a 4-month full-time internship in its HVM Engineering department, within the Process Equipment and Equipment (PEE) group covering CVD/PVD. The project focuses on enabling a superior copper sputter process for next-generation HBM metallization, using AI, Micron manufacturing systems and data analytics to characterize, validate and optimize the process. The internship may lead to a full-time position depending on performance and business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support advanced copper sputter process development for next-generation HBM metallization.
• Perform process characterization, hardware qualification and integration assessments.
• Use AI tools, Micron systems and data analytics to identify performance trends and generate actionable insights.
• Conduct statistical analysis and machine learning-based evaluations to improve process understanding.
• Support defect reduction, yield enhancement and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Collaborate with Process Integration, Manufacturing, Equipment and Quality teams.
• Deliver process characterization and qualification reports, AI and data analytics insights, manufacturing performance evaluations, and yield, reliability and defectivity assessments.

Required profile

• Pursuing Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Ability to commit to a full-time 4-month internship.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and AI-enabled tools for data analytics and decision support.
• Experience with Python, Power BI, SQL, JMP or equivalent is advantageous.
