Internship Programme (Polytechnic Students, Singapore)

About the role

Expeditors, a Fortune 500 global logistics company offering air and ocean transport, customs brokerage, distribution, cargo insurance and consulting, runs an internship programme for polytechnic students living in Singapore. It is a full-time, flexible programme lasting 12 to 16 weeks, with training in one specific or relevant department and possibly a special project. The aim is to give students training and experience linked to their studies and career goals.

Key responsibilities

• Learn about Expeditors and the logistics industry and gain real field work experience
• Take part in an orientation covering the organisation, the project and field work, with guided hands-on practice
• Follow a structured training curriculum in specific operations and personal development areas
• Receive mentorship from various stakeholders and support various projects
• Build contacts in the field of interest and network with logistics professionals
• Learn logistics know-how such as electronic data management, shipment processing and document imaging

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a polytechnic programme
• Spoken and written English, good interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task, a good team player who can also work independently
• Organised, detail-oriented, proactive and committed to the work given
• Willingness to commit 15 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours during summer breaks, depending on the department
• Global geographic knowledge and multilingual abilities are desired
