IT Engineer (Data Services)

About the role

Micron is hiring an IT Engineer (Data Services) to maintain and improve its database systems. The role covers installation, patching, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup and security compliance, and on-call support, with on-site work at the Fab 10W facility.

Key responsibilities

• Install, upgrade and patch database systems, and diagnose and resolve database errors to ensure high availability.
• Manage database access, backups and security compliance, and perform changes to critical manufacturing and engineering databases.
• Support incident, request, change and problem management, meeting SLAs and targets such as breach case targets, MTTR and first-level resolution.
• Provide on-call support, including outside office hours, and run business continuity planning, capacity forecasting, disaster recovery exercises and failover testing.
• Work with site customers on new database requirements, data flow requests and problem resolution.
• Tune database performance, monitor it proactively, analyse cases to prevent recurrence and review monitoring.
• Create and manage reports, visualisations and dashboards, and develop operating procedures.
• Build automation and recommend emerging database technologies, and share knowledge worldwide.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Candidates with 0-4 years of experience can apply.
• Strong oral and written communication, analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.

Required skills

• Advantageous: hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, Linux and Windows.
• Programming and scripting in Java, PowerShell and Python.
• Strong command of SQL and SQL Server tools.
