Japanese‑Speaking Sales Executive / Assistant Manager – Timber Trading

About the role

The company is seeking a Japanese‑speaking sales professional to lead and grow its timber trading business across international markets. You will be responsible for driving sales, building relationships with global partners, and promoting sustainably sourced timber products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute international sales strategies for timber and wood‑related products.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with global buyers, suppliers, and business partners.
• Identify new market opportunities and expand the timber trading portfolio.
• Promote sustainably sourced timber products and communicate their environmental value to clients.
• Manage the full sales cycle, from sourcing through delivery, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor timber and forestry market trends, pricing, and supply‑demand dynamics.
• Lead and manage the sales team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support efficient logistics, compliance, and operations.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and sustainability standards such as FSC.
• Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and strategic recommendations for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Forestry, Environmental Studies or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in international sales, preferably in timber or commodities.
• Professional working proficiency in Japanese for liaising with Japanese‑speaking clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Strong interest in the timber industry and sustainability or environmental initiatives.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Required skills

• Japanese language proficiency (professional working level).
• Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance.
• Familiarity with sustainability certifications such as FSC.
