Lecturer (Big Data Analytics) – School of Informatics & IT

About the role

The School of Informatics & IT is seeking a Lecturer to teach and develop curricula in Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and related mathematical foundations. The role involves both full‑time and part‑time teaching, curriculum design, and student mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver full‑time and part‑time courses covering Data Analytics, AI, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Data Management, and core ICT modules.
• Design and deliver emerging AI curricula, including Generative AI, Large Language Models, Agentic AI, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, and Responsible AI.
• Teach mathematics modules (calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics) contextualised for IT and AI applications.
• Create, review, and maintain course materials, assessments, and recommend enhancements to improve learning outcomes.
• Guide project‑based work, e‑learning, and self‑directed learning, supervising real‑world AI and analytics projects.
• Coach and mentor students for academic and professional development.
• Participate in outreach programmes, committee work, and school events.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of industry experience in Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Management, Analytics, Machine Learning, or Text Analytics.
• Strong interest and demonstrated competence in teaching analytics, AI, and related mathematical subjects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
