Lecturer - School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

About the role

Singapore Polytechnic is recruiting a Lecturer for its School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The role combines teaching and mentoring of students with curriculum development, applied research and consultancy work, and administrative tasks linked to teaching and institutional strategy. Candidates are expected to be resourceful, innovative and good communicators.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials and mentor students
• Develop and maintain new and existing teaching curriculum modules
• Undertake projects and consultancy work with internal and external stakeholders
• Apply effective pedagogy to facilitate learning
• Contribute to the teaching of Professional Adult and Continuing Education (PACE) classes held at night

Required profile

• Passion for education and strong interest in teaching and mentoring students
• Self-driven, independent and able to work as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
• Interest in developing new capabilities through projects and self-learning, and in exploring new technologies
• Candidates with teaching experience have an added advantage

Required skills

• Rapid Transit Technology track: competence to teach at Diploma and higher level in Rapid Transit Signalling System, Rapid Transit System, Engineering Data Analytics and Industrial Internet of Things, or Engineering Asset Management and Operation Technology, with 3 years of relevant experience
• Power and Sustainable Energy track: competence to teach at Diploma and higher level in Building Energy Efficiency and Management, Electrical Power Systems and Installation, Power Electronics and Drives, or Energy Storage Systems, with 3 years of relevant experience
• Being a Professional Engineer (PE) or in the process of becoming one is an added advantage
