Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Aerospace Engineering)

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic is hiring a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering within its School of Engineering. The role goes beyond curriculum development and teaching: it includes nurturing learners' lifelong learning and career aspirations, taking part in industry or research projects, and building strong links with industry partners so learners gain meaningful exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials and mentor students.
• Develop and maintain new or existing curricula for learning units covering aeronautical engineering, aerodynamics, aircraft structures and systems, propulsion and engine maintenance, maintenance practices, aviation legislation and human factors.
• Carry out applied research projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Use effective pedagogical approaches to improve student learning.
• Lead or represent the department in committees and take part in administrative and management tasks such as outreach, student recruitment and project management.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience in the aerospace industry, such as aircraft MRO, aerospace manufacturing, aviation operations, aerospace systems development or engines.
• Strong industry linkages in the field.
• Passion for education, mentoring and motivating learners, with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Self-driven, able to work independently and as part of a team, and interested in new technologies and self-learning.
• Advantageous: multi-disciplinary expertise (aerodynamics, aircraft structures, propulsion, aircraft systems, maintenance, aviation operations, human factors), experience in MRO, manufacturing, systems development or engines, experience delivering aerospace/aviation seminars, and strong planning, coordination and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Competence in digital and/or cyber security industry practices.
• Ability to contribute to applied projects, industry collaborations or consultancy work.
