Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (Edge Systems Architect)

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Edge Systems Architecture for its School of Engineering. The role covers teaching, curriculum development and industry engagement in the fast-moving field of edge computing and distributed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver industry-relevant curriculum in edge computing, IoT architectures, distributed systems, cloud-edge integration, embedded systems and related programming languages or frameworks.
• Run practical laboratory sessions, projects and assessments to build students' hands-on skills in designing, deploying and managing edge systems.
• Mentor and supervise student projects, internships and final-year projects, and liaise with students in local and overseas attachments.
• Engage with industry partners to bring real-world scenarios into teaching and take part in curriculum review and development.
• Contribute to outreach programmes, faculty development and school initiatives such as Open House.
• Carry out applied research or industry consultancy projects where applicable, and keep up to date with edge computing technologies, standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of industry experience for a Lecturer, 5+ years for a Senior Lecturer, in designing, developing or deploying edge computing solutions, IoT systems or distributed architectures.
• Prior teaching experience at a tertiary institution or corporate training experience is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a team and with industry partners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of edge device management, edge AI, real-time data processing and network protocols for edge.
• Containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes for edge, and cloud platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT Edge and Google Cloud IoT.
• Programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Go, Java and JavaScript, and relevant frameworks and tools.
