Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Experience Design (Product)

About the role

Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Design & Media is looking for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Experience Design (Product). The role brings an Industrial and Product Design perspective to the Diploma in Experience Design, helping students see products as touchpoints in a broader user journey. You will teach, develop curriculum, mentor students and collaborate with industry.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and develop curriculum, learning resources and assessments in experience design, design research, human-centred design, design thinking, ideation, visualisation, prototyping and design development.
• Integrate Industrial and Product Design expertise into multidisciplinary learning, covering user-centred design, ergonomics, product development methods, materials and manufacturing.
• Mentor and supervise students on industry projects, exhibitions, competitions and multidisciplinary collaborations.
• Lead or support industry collaborations, consultancy projects and applied research on experience design and emerging technologies.
• Keep the curriculum current with AI-assisted ideation, sustainable product systems, circular design and emerging manufacturing technologies.
• Build and maintain industry partnerships for applied projects, internships, consultancy and graduate employability.
• Support course management, academic administration, student recruitment and outreach.
• Develop and deliver Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes.

Required profile

• Qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
• Strong portfolio showing product innovation, human-centred design and project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in design research, prototyping, testing and product development.
• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and ergonomics.
• Ability to work across disciplines and a strong appreciation of sustainability and inclusive design.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and project management skills.
• Experience teaching, mentoring or leading design teams is an advantage.
