Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – English Language Teaching & Literacy (Secondary)

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to specialise in English Language Teaching Methodology and Literacy Development for secondary‑level students. The role involves teaching, curriculum design, and research within a highly ranked education institute.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in English language teaching pedagogy.
• Supervise teaching practice and undergraduate research projects.
• Contribute to curriculum design and continuous improvement of literacy programmes.
• Engage in scholarly research on English language teaching and literacy development.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty and industry partners on education initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD or EdD in English Language, Linguistics, Literacy or Language Education (must be completed at appointment).
• Teaching experience at K‑12 level, preferably in Singapore schools.
• Experience teaching secondary literature is an advantage.
• Proven record of excellent tertiary teaching, supported by student feedback.
• Experience designing and managing relevant university courses.
• Ability to teach diverse student cohorts, including undergraduates and graduates.
• Active research agenda in English Language Teaching or Literacy Development.
