Manufacturing Biotechnologist (Train & Place)

About the role

Roche is recruiting a Manufacturing Biotechnologist for its Biochemical Manufacturing Department in Central Singapore. The role carries overall accountability for completing manufacturing tasks on schedule while fully complying with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Roche's corporate principles, quality policies and standards. It is part of the Career Conversion Programme (CCP), a 15-month train-and-place programme for advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing executives and professionals, jointly supported by Workforce Singapore and the Workforce Advancement Federation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Biochemical Manufacturing Department and meet its goals and objectives.
• Complete assigned tasks such as preparing small equipment, cleaning and sterilizing vessels, preparing solutions, operating biochemical processing equipment, sampling raw materials and environmental samples, and maintaining housekeeping in line with safety, cGMP and biochemical manufacturing guidelines.
• Prioritize assigned tasks and document work according to approved manufacturing formulae.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process problems and support process improvement efforts.
• Operate computers for process control and data entry.
• Take part in staff and shift-change meetings and work closely with other shift personnel and external support groups.
• Report safety incidents and near misses promptly, support incident investigations, and comply with all site safety, health and environmental requirements.
• Follow site security measures and report suspicious activity or damaged security mechanisms to Site Security.
• Apply the PT Lean Production System (LPS) tools to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate with a degree in Life Sciences or Engineering, or a diploma or NITEC holder with equivalent standing.
• Good problem-solving, interpersonal communication and team skills.
