Manufacturing Design Engineer

About the role

KLA is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer to support the development and troubleshooting of advanced semiconductor inspection equipment. The role involves hands‑on work with optical, mechanical, electrical and software components to ensure high‑performance manufacturing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system‑level troubleshooting and analytical support for technical issues.
• Set up experiments, collect data and conduct detailed data analysis.
• Interpret technical drawings, review Bills of Materials and operate precision testing and measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to manage projects and solve complex engineering problems.
• Travel internationally up to 25% of the time for customer support and field work.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or related engineering discipline.
• 3–10 years of relevant experience, including system‑level troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical mindset, self‑driven attitude and ability to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Experience with Fizeau/Interferometry systems.
• Proficiency in JMP analysis.
• Knowledge of vibration dampening and motion‑control system analysis.
• Understanding of optical, mechanical, electrical and software components in inspection equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings, interpret BOMs and use precision measurement instruments.
