Marine Crane Design Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Marine Crane Design Specialist to lead the mechanical and structural design of offshore and marine lifting solutions. The role focuses on delivering reliable, high‑performance cranes that meet stringent international maritime standards and classification society rules.

Key responsibilities

• Lead concept‑to‑manufacturing design of knuckle boom, telescopic, lattice boom, and offshore pedestal cranes.
• Perform structural strength, fatigue, and stability analyses using FEM/FEA tools.
• Size critical components such as slewing bearings, winches, wire ropes, gears, cylinders, and hydraulic power units.
• Ensure compliance with API 2C, DNV‑ST‑0378, EN 13000, ISO, and other classification rules.
• Prepare design reports, calculation packages, technical specifications, and drawing verification notes for client and class approval.
• Collaborate with hydraulics, electrical, production, and project management teams to resolve technical issues.
• Drive design optimisation to reduce weight, cost, and improve operational efficiency while maintaining safety.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in heavy machinery design, preferably in marine or offshore crane projects.
• Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving and technical communication abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced 3D CAD: SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo.
• Finite Element Analysis: ANSYS, FEMAP, NASTRAN.
• Deep understanding of marine environments, dynamic loading, and corrosion protection.
• Familiarity with international design codes and classification society rules (DNV, ABS, LRS, API).
