Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will create solutions for mechanical challenges at the assembly and sub‑assembly level, translating customer needs into robust technical designs. You will work closely with fabrication, welding, machining and assembly teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed assembly and component drawings for manufacturing.
• Design comprehensive tests to validate design parameters and attach risk levels to proposed solutions.
• Produce design documentation, test reports and related records.
• Support fabrication, welding, machining and assembly processes.
• Perform structural analysis on components and sub‑assemblies to verify specifications.
• Select appropriate materials, actuators, fasteners and other components.
• Design hydraulic circuits, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses and safety locks.
• Apply engineering principles and innovative approaches to meet project goals.
• Build prototypes and proof‑of‑concept units.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering or component design.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software.
• Knowledge of sheet‑metal parts, weldments, truss structures and machine components.
• Understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly and ingress protection.
• Experience with motion‑control and kinematic solutions.
• Ability to perform FEA for quasi‑static loading conditions.
• Additional experience in hydraulics, large structures, mobile platforms or vehicle‑mounted equipment is a plus.
