Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the physical systems that make real‑world robot operations reliable. You will shape how robots are built, deployed, maintained, and iterated in production, working across mechanisms, structures, thermal and environmental design, prototyping, and manufacturing readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and refine the core mechanical architecture for live robot operations across global deployments.
• Develop mechanisms and structures for teleoperation hardware, operator stations, field accessories, and robot‑integrated tooling.
• Architect mechanical interfaces between robots, payloads, sensors, and deployment environments (mounting, sealing, vibration, ingress, service access).
• Build robust assemblies that ensure stable telemetry, sensing, and calibration in the field.
• Close the loop between field issues and design, turning failures and wear patterns into durable product improvements.
• Drive reliability, manufacturability, weight, cost, and serviceability across a production‑critical hardware stack.
• Collaborate with robotics, autonomy, electrical, and operations teams to compound mechanical choices into fleet advantage.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping hardware to production or near‑production.
• Experience in mechanism design, structural design, DFM/DFA, tolerancing, and design for reliability in dynamic or deployed systems.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape or similar) and practical experience with drawings, BOMs, and vendor engagement.
• Ability to design assemblies that are robust, manufacturable, and debuggable under real‑world constraints (shock, dust, temperature, misuse).
• Comfortable owning messy, cross‑functional problems from concept through validation and ramp.
