Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Singapore team. You will apply a strong foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to solve complex mechanical challenges, design custom tooling, and support the full product life‑cycle from handling to final assembly.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering test reports.
• Develop, design, or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, drawings and specifications.
• Conduct engineering analysis for complex scopes.
• Lead or execute projects, develop key suppliers and generate mechanical product specifications.
• Design and implement custom tooling, fixturing and associated processes, establishing standards across operations.
• Specify and review engineering documentation.
• Implement solutions for complex product issues and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in physics, mathematics and materials science.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Experience in mechanical problem solving and engineering analysis.
• Proven capability to lead projects and collaborate with suppliers.
