Mechanical Engineer - Lift Design Review, Compliance & QA

About the role

Fuku is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Singapore to cover design review, compliance, quality assurance and lift mechanical work. The role supports tenders, installation projects and ongoing lift reliability, working with project teams, contractors and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Tender and technical support: review tender specifications, technical drawings and mechanical requirements for lift systems; assess traffic analysis, design feasibility and compliance with codes and standards; flag design gaps and conflicts and give technical recommendations during tender evaluation and project planning.
• Design, installation and project support: review lift shop drawings, mechanical calculations and technical submissions; evaluate installation methods against approved specifications; carry out mock-up checks, site inspections and installation quality audits; take part in handover inspections and identify defects needing rectification; support project teams, contractors and consultants through installation.
• Quality assurance and lift reliability: monitor performance and reliability of lift components such as ropes, guide rails and door systems; analyse recurring faults and recommend corrective and preventive measures; inspect components, assess supplier quality and run laboratory tests where required; review and approve parts listings; maintain engineering documentation and spare-parts records; work with suppliers on quality and performance issues.
• Root-cause analysis and improvement: investigate complaints such as abnormal noise, excessive vibration, rusty ropes and component failures; perform root-cause analysis; recommend engineering solutions to improve safety, reliability and performance; coordinate corrective and preventive actions and support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Lift or vertical transportation industry experience is advantageous.
• Good understanding of lift mechanical systems, engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable conducting site inspections.
• Good communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
