NHG · Singapore
Job description
About the role
NHG Health is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Engineer for the TTSH Medical Tower Planning and Development team. The role provides mechanical engineering expertise across the design, construction and commissioning phases of the tower, representing TTSH's technical interests so that the building meets clinical requirements, regulatory standards and operational needs before handover.
Key responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications and consultant/contractor submissions for compliance with clinical requirements, Singapore building codes and international healthcare standards, and resolve technical gaps with consultants.
- Ensure mechanical systems (ACMV, medical gas, plumbing and sanitary, fire protection, infection control ventilation, BMS, lifts, escalators, dumbwaiters and pneumatic tubes) meet the needs of a high-acuity hospital.
- Attend site inspections and technical meetings, review RFIs, site queries and variation orders, and coordinate with electrical, structural and architectural teams to resolve clashes.
- Support testing and commissioning, review commissioning reports and test results, and take part in technical handover, snagging and defects rectification.
- Maintain records of submissions, approvals, test results and as-built documentation, and support capital grant justifications and regulatory compliance (BCA, NEA, SCDF, MOH).
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in the design, construction or commissioning of mechanical systems on major building projects; more than 10 years considered for the Senior Engineer position.
- Seen at least one major project through to practical completion; prior experience in healthcare or large institutional buildings strongly preferred.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with consultants, contractors and clinical users.
- Relevant professional licences or certifications are an advantage.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of healthcare mechanical standards: ACMV design for infection control zones, medical gas systems and clean rooms.
- Familiarity with BCA, NEA and SCDF requirements for healthcare building services.
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and specifications.
