Job description
About the role
Micron is looking for a Metro Real-time Defect Analysis (RDA) Process & Equipment Engineer. You will develop, deploy and sustain RDA capabilities that support process control and equipment performance in advanced packaging and New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing. The role links Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, NPI teams and RDA, working with Site and Global RDA, Process, Equipment, Automation and IT teams to improve equipment capability, process robustness and manufacturing readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work, and share AI-enabled improvements with colleagues
- Develop and sustain RDA monitoring strategies aligned to advanced packaging processes and equipment behavior
- Translate process and equipment knowledge into SPC, Fault Detection & Classification (FDC) and RDA rules, alarms and diagnostics
- Identify equipment-related process sensitivities, interactions and failure modes, especially during NPI and early ramp
- Improve tool stability, repeatability and process window control through data-driven insights
- Support deployment and tuning of new RDA capabilities, scripts, dashboards and automation logic, and ensure strategies evolve as NPI moves to high-volume manufacturing
- Partner with Process and Equipment Engineers on tool bring-up, qualification and stabilization, and provide input to NPI readiness reviews, risk assessments and ramp decisions
- Support rapid root cause analysis and corrective actions for excursions, and validate monitoring coverage for new equipment and process flows
- Analyze metrics such as availability, stability, excursion rate and recovery effectiveness, and support MTTR reduction and process capability improvement
- Standardize monitoring approaches across tools, processes and sites, and contribute to continuous improvement projects and audits
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Materials, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial or related)
- 0-2 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, process or equipment engineering, or RDA/automation roles
- Experience supporting NPI, pilot lines or early production ramps preferred
- Internship or semiconductor industry experience is a plus; interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron preferred
Required skills
- Understanding of semiconductor equipment systems, process control concepts and manufacturing variability
- Hands-on experience with SPC/FDC, RDA platforms or manufacturing data systems preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and ability to work cross-functionally
- Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly
