Metrology Engineer

About the role

Micron is hiring a Metrology Engineer to support yield and quality through measurement recipes that give quick, accurate feedback on product integrity. The role works closely with R&D and the US fab site, takes part in worldwide improvement discussions, and applies AI-assisted tools to improve efficiency and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Develop measurement recipes that provide fast, accurate feedback on product integrity.
• Take part in new technology development and startup alongside the US fab site's R&D.
• Join global improvement discussions such as the Copy-Smart Team (CST) and share best practices across the network.
• Set tool qualification criteria and monitor them with Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
• Work with Engineering Operations and Application teams to optimise tool maintenance schedules and utilisation.
• Run projects that improve inline detection, efficiency, cost, machine availability and reduce measurement variability.
• Partner with tool suppliers and owners to find better ways to work as technology nodes shrink.
• Analyse data and recommend process changes, equipment availability improvements and cost reductions.
• Train the engineering team on recipe maintenance, tool recovery, troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Determine sampling strategies that meet production, process control and quality requirements.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and share AI-enabled improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Science.
• Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communicator who collaborates across all levels.
• Growth mindset and a passion for continuous learning.
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
• Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron preferred.

Required skills

• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
