NAND Validation & Characterization Engineer

About the role

Micron is looking for an Engineer or Senior Engineer in Product Engineering, NAND Validation/Characterization, who specializes in functional and design validation of advanced NAND products. The role covers silicon and simulation-based validation, electrical failure analysis and cross-functional issue closure, with a strong focus on automation, data-driven validation and applied AI/ML techniques to improve test efficiency, coverage and debug productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute functional and design validation flows for advanced RG NAND devices using silicon and simulation platforms.
• Develop deterministic usage-case tests and random sequence generators to validate NAND commands and customer-mode features.
• Perform electrical failure analysis, root-cause investigations (digital and analog circuitry) and drive issue resolution with cross-functional teams.
• Characterize NAND performance, including timing and power parameters, against the latest NAND ONFI interface standards.
• Run Verilog and Synopsys VCS simulations to support debug and design verification.
• Build automation frameworks in C, Python and Perl to speed up test development and execution.
• Apply AI/ML techniques (data analytics, pattern recognition, anomaly detection) to accelerate failure triage, find coverage gaps and improve random sequence effectiveness.
• Use dashboards to track validation progress, defect trends and release readiness.

Required profile

• Experienced in silicon and simulation-based validation, electrical failure analysis and cross-functional issue closure.
• For the senior engineer level, at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar or related engineering role.
• Ability to integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work and to contribute to continuous improvement by sharing AI-enabled enhancements.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills, independent debug capability with minimal guidance; senior engineers should also be able to plan and lead projects or task forces.
