Part-Time Lecturer – Principles of Game Design

About the role

The School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University seeks a part‑time lecturer to teach the postgraduate course AP6401 Principles of Game Design. The 13‑week course begins in August 2026 and guides students through the full creative game‑design process.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and workshops covering visual style, themes, genres, player agency, game mechanics and simple coding.
• Mentor students in developing game prototypes and preparing a final pitch.
• Provide feedback on design concepts, mechanics, and technical implementation.
• Assess student work and contribute to course improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in end‑to‑end game development, from concept to prototype.
• Track record of creative practice in the gaming industry.
• Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred; exceptional candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and substantial industry experience may also be considered.

Required skills

• Expertise in game concept and mechanic design.
• Ability to guide simple coding and prototype development.
• Strong understanding of player goals, artistic and technical originality.
