Patient Service Associate - Financial Counselling (Emergency Dept)

About the role

Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), an anchor hospital of NHG Health, is recruiting a Financial Counselling Patient Service Associate for its Emergency Department. You will support patients and their families by providing financial counselling, explaining healthcare financing and payment options, and helping them through admission.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient registration, collect deposits and provide financial counselling to patients and their families.
• Counsell patients and next-of-kin at the assigned unit (Emergency Department) in line with the Healthcare Services Act, advising on ward class charges, bill estimates, available subsidies and payment options.
• Stay up to date on healthcare financing initiatives, policies and schemes to answer enquiries effectively.
• Process ward upgrade and downgrade requests, explaining charge differences and subsidy implications.
• Coordinate and process patient transfers to other healthcare institutions.
• Handle administrative duties related to patient admissions and other operational matters as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma, NITEC/Higher NITEC in any discipline, or GCE 'A'/'O'/'N' Level.
• Prior experience in frontline operations or customer service is an advantage.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Able to wear PPE and N95 masks when required.
• Able to work 3 rotating shifts on a 6-day week, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
