Principal Mechanical Engineer (Water/Wastewater)

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater projects on Jurong Island. You will oversee the mechanical team, ensure design quality, and drive technical excellence from concept through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and review mechanical designs, specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings and 3D models for quality, safety and compliance.
• Produce and validate design deliverables, including calculations, General Arrangement Drawings, P&IDs and BIM models.
• Review client and third‑party designs, challenge asset standards where cost‑effective alternatives exist, and manage tender bid analysis.
• Prepare fee estimates, design programmes and liaise with clients to agree project deliverables.
• Manage and monitor the work of project team members, ensuring on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
• Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations, TOTEX and CAPEX assessments, and ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and other health‑and‑safety regulations.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Approximately 8 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in the water and wastewater sector.
• Full project‑life‑cycle experience from FEED to detailed design, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractor designs.

Required skills

• CAD and BIM design tools.
• 3D modelling and detailed drawing production.
• Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) creation and review.
• Hydraulic and pump calculations.
• Mechanical design of water/wastewater treatment equipment.
• FEED development and cost estimation (TOTEX, CAPEX).
• Compliance with CDM 2015 health‑and‑safety standards.
