Principal Scientific Data Officer (QA/QC & Audit)

About the role

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore is hiring a Principal Scientific Data Officer (PDO) specialising in data quality assurance, quality control and data auditing. The PDO develops and implements programme-wide data quality standards and objectives, building an auditable database of all finalised research information across teams in seismic monitoring, earthquake-hazard assessment and seismic-risk analysis. The role works with about 40 research staff and supports ISO9001 or higher ISO/IEC27001 readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Establish programme-wide data protocols and procedures for a comprehensive database of research information, including data, models and documentation.
• Develop and maintain an auditable database with tracking, documentation and version control, supporting future ISO certification.
• Work with research teams to populate and maintain the database as new results are obtained, analysed and finalised.
• Conduct regular internal data audits to ensure protocols are followed.
• Prepare reproducible data subsets for technical reports, peer-reviewed publications and submissions to funding and regulatory agencies.

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, or a closely related field.
• Formal training in data management, statistics, informatics or data science.
• More than 8 years of experience in scientific data management, research data governance, QA/QC or data auditing, with the last 5 years in progressively senior or leadership roles.
• Demonstrated leadership in developing quality systems, governance frameworks or audit programmes for large, complex research programmes.
• Experience working independently with funding agencies, external auditors and reviewers on data management and compliance matters.
