Principal Security Technology Consultant

About the role

Arup is seeking an experienced Security Consultant to lead the delivery of complex electronic security projects across multiple sectors. You will work closely with clients to understand operational and security challenges, translating requirements into innovative, integrated security solutions that deliver real‑world outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of integrated electronic security projects, including requirements gathering, strategy development, design, tender management, construction support and operational planning.
• Provide specialist technical expertise across CCTV, access control, perimeter intrusion detection, security screening and entrance control systems, ensuring integration with IT, networking and infrastructure environments.
• Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, identifying challenges and delivering innovative solutions.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources and commercial performance to achieve financial targets.
• Mentor and support team members through coaching, technical guidance and knowledge sharing while ensuring compliance with health, safety and legislative requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in a similar security consultancy role.
• Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional documentation for bids, projects, research and training.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office applications.
• Thorough understanding of the engineering project lifecycle from concept through detailed design to construction administration and support.
• Proven track record delivering projects in aviation security, critical infrastructure, data centres, transportation, healthcare or similar sectors (highly preferred).
